Manek holds a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Mumbai University, a B.Ed. in Special Education from SNDT University, Mumbai, and a Certificate in Dyslexia Therapy from the Multisensory Language Training Institute, New Mexico. Prior to joining MDA in May 2003, Manek gained valuable experience through voluntary work for NGOs. She is a trainer and clinical supervisor for the Dyslexia Therapist Training Programme, and works with students with dyslexia on reading, spelling and handwriting skills using the Sounds-In-Syllables programme. She also uses the Feuerstein Instrumental Enrichment programme with her students.
