Provisions Granted By the Council For The Indian School Certification Examinations to Students appearing At the ICSE (Class X) Examinations

The ICSE Board selectively grants the following provisions as per the specific needs of individual students:

Exemption from the study of a Second Language

  1. Allowance of additional time – 15 minutes for a 1-hour paper, 30 minutes for a 2-hour paper and 45 minutes for a 3-hour paper
  2. Use of an/a Amanuensis/Reader/Reader-cum-Writer
  3. Use of a Casio fx-82 MS (Scientific) Calculator for Mathematical Calculations only in the following Subjects – Mathematics, Science & Geography
  4. Condoning Spelling Errors
  5. Use of a Magnifying Glass
How to apply for provisions –

The School Principal should forward a detailed Psycho-educational Report by a recognized Professional or Institution to the ICSE Board, specifying the area/s of difficulty and the type of support required for the candidate to satisfactorily complete the exam papers.

Bombay High Court Order 20 July 2006

The State Government, Education Authorities and all Schools in the State of Maharashtra having affiliation with any of the Boards viz., Secondary School Certificate Board (SSC), Indian Council of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) shall abide by the said Scheme in relation to the students with learning disabilities. The schools in the State of Maharashtra are also directed to abide by the circulars issued by the State Government from time-to-time not inconsistent with the Scheme ‘X’ approved by us today. The disobedience or non-compliance of the Scheme in relation to the students with learning disabilities by any of the schools in the State of Maharashtra shall be treated as disobedience of the order of this Court and they shall be proceeded accordingly.
