Maharashtra Dyslexia Association (MDA) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to securing the rights of students with Dyslexia (also known as a ‘Specific Learning Disorder or Disability’) to an appropriate education.
MDA was started in March 1996 by a group of parents and professionals with a view to creating awareness about Dyslexia within the educational community and the general public, and advocating the rights of these students.
MDA began in 1996 driven by a profound belief that every individual with dyslexia has unique strengths waiting to be recognised. What started as a small initiative with a few dedicated parents and professionals has grown into an active organisation at the forefront of Dyslexia support and advocacy. We continue to expand our reach, develop innovative programmes and build a community of support. MDA is a member of the Global Network of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).

Everyone with Specific Learning Disability achieving and thriving
With approximately 1 in 5 people experiencing some form of dyslexia, a comprehensive approach is essential. MDA is committed to championing individuals with Specific Learning Disabilities and supporting those who play a crucial role in their lives. By raising awareness, providing early intervention, offering specialised education, addressing mental health, conducting research, partnering with communities, and ensuring accessibility and sustainability, we are creating a support network for parents, professionals and educators to understand and assist children with dyslexia effectively.
